Gen Ki Karate & Fitness Center

I just want to say that the karate instruction by Master Weiss is flawless. Unfortunately, good luck on earning your black belt in the average 4-5 year period. GEN-KI is more about getting you to spend your money on tuition over the LOOOOOONG hall (think 18 years like Mindy G lol), marked up karate gear, and if you want to advance, participation in tournaments at 50 bucks a pop. You will have to beg to learn Katas as they are only shared with favored students. The black belts under Master Weiss are more into showcasing their own skills and just don't make the time to teach under rank belts the Katas needed to advance in a timely fashion. Plus, if you are looking to be recognized for superior physical athletic ability this is not the place for adults. Gen-KI caters mainly to children. Add to that horrible parking accommodations and a male and female changing room that lacks basic amenities like lockers, shower, etc. and GEN-KI Karate is an obvious PASS. Almost 20 years ago I attended the Gen-Ki school on Milwaukee Ave. under Instructor Jerry Weiss. Now that I have childen I wanted them to experaince the martial arts. The first and only place to bring my children was his Karate school. He is great with children and one of the best in the business.A. Robertson
