Our practice is dedicated to the management of various chronic pain syndromes that are often intractable and difficult to treat. We believe that the best approach to pain management is a comprehensive one that involves several medical disciplines.
When we meet with you for the first time we have two major goals: to understand how pain affects your life and to help you understand the causes of your pain and the treatment options available. During our initial meeting, we’ll first discuss your overall health: the medical problems you have, the medicines you take, the surgeries you have had, and your lifestyle. Once we have a good understanding of your overall health, we’ll move onto a discussion of your pain. Where is it? What does it feel like? What makes it better or worse? When does it occur? Are there any other feelings that occur with the pain? Has anything helped you in the past? Most importantly, we try to understand how the pain affects your life. How is it limiting your participation in activities you enjoy? How is it affecting your relationships? How is it affecting your mental health? Following this we'll perform a physical exam to gather more information about the potential causes of your pain.
We offer therapies for pain in the shoulder, hips, and knees, both before and after surgery. We have special expertise in the management of knee pain that persists following surgery for knee replacement.
