Ru San's

Love the restuarant. The staff are friendly and I love the sushi there. Will come back again.

I really think Ru San's is one of the best values for sushi in Charlotte. It's got a great lunch menu and buffet.

The minute that you walk in the door at Ru-San's, the staff's loud yelling and the fast techno beats make you feel kind of like a rock star. Although the restaurant's decor might not be as fancy as some places, the food here is hard to beat. The sushi list is three pages front-and-back, and there are always creative seasonal specials. For the Summer 2008 menu, the "Exotic Maki" with the tempura shrimp and mango salsa is one that you can't miss. Most of the other rolls are pretty spectacular too, including the Firecracker Roll with two kinds of tuna rolled in a crispy rice cracker crust served with some ultra-hot mayonnaise sauce and the Beetlejuice Roll, which is some kind of strange tempura tomato concoction with creamy shrimp salad.

The wonderful thing about Ru-San's is that there are so many different things on the menu to discover. To make it easy for you, I'll go ahead and say that some of the best-kept secrets on their menu are the yakitori sea-bass and the zaru-soba noodles. And the mochi ice cream. And the ama-ebi nigiri pieces. Actually, this list might never end. But there's a start for you.
