I went to get a sew in at the South Tryon location and it was so tight it was pulling my scalp! I returned the following day for them to fix the problem and I was charged again! That is BAD business! They definitely lost a valuable client! If you wanna keep your hair stay away from Bignon!

As with the others, I didnt care for my experience. This wad my first time at a braiding salon and i had never had braids before. I also, went to Sara who seemed okay at first but then became completely standoff. I sat under the dryer to let the gel dry that she put all over my head. When i was done almost an hour later she acted as if she didnt see me and another stylist had to tell her that i was sitting there with the hood back. The dryer was directly behind her station! The gel was still not dry and big clumps were still oozing out of my one braid. I have never seen anyone with a crunchy halo braid. Now after 2 weeks of the braid in and oiling it every day and wrapping my hair every night, my hair has broken off horribly. After a shampoo, deep conditioner and moisture conditioner, i have dreadlock knots that i cant get out. Never again, will i go here or recommend anyone else.

Very unprofessional!! The girl could not work on my head due to the conversation she was having with another stylist in the shop and also on her phone. There was literally a 1-3 min talk break in between each braid almost.Braids already take a long time and I don't appreciate the lack of service I received I def won't be back and I don't recommend this location to anyone

Overall

I went to the S. Tryon Street location and I was NOT PLEASED with my hair!! I asked for senegalese twists but instead was given a huge head of braids that looked more like a combination of jambo or havana twists! I asked for senegalese twists at the $185 size and that is NOT what I got! The braids were thick, heavy, ropey, uneven in the back and the braids were so thick that I couldn't even gather them in the back to make a ponytail! I have had senegalese done before and I have NEVER experienced this! Also the senegalese braiding technique that they use is to braid the hair at the root with big knots and then about an inch down to start twisting- THIS is a bad result because it doesn't allow for a flat sleek look but instead leaves a bulky, tight non flexible result that's hard to work with! They should twist the hair starting at the ROOT! Most of the stylists there were very rude, in particular the stylist that did my hair, Sara, had a terrible attitude from the beginning- so I should have known that things would not go well. Before she started my hair, I asked her not to braid my edges tight and all she did was laugh and make a sarcastic remark! Once my hair was completed I told her I was not satisfied and she became very upset and made nasty comments regarding me not liking my hair! I have never ever been to a salon where it is acceptable to treat clients in this manner. I am not sure if it is just at this particular location that this happens, but I also witnessed several other customers leave out with styles that they were not happy with. BIGNONS @ S. Tryon needs an upgrade on professionalism and customer service and really needs education on proper braiding techniques. Also witnessed several other stylists come in talking negative about the owner in front of clients- very unprofessional! I will never go to this place again--- PLEASE do your research... BEWARE!!!!

I had a wonderful experience at bignons and I would definitely go back again. they are very professional, however, the only thing I would suggest is refrain from speaking their language when doing customers' hair. I would definitely recommend this place because they are good at what they do.

I just recently got some box braids done and this place is honestly not the place to go. They braid entirely too tight and do not listen when you tell them that it is. Terrible

Overall

Summary: Several members of staff are unprofessional and do not carry themselves in a respectable manner. Recent experience more horrifying than past occurrences.

Experience: I recently set up appointment for child to have hair braided, box braids. Receptionist informed me that I would get $20 discount for providing my own hair. Clarified with rep since hair for box braids does not equal $20, but representative stated I would still receive discount. When I brought my child to have her hair braided, the braider unprofessionally exclaimed that she doesn’t do children’s hair because children do not know how to behave and they cry too much. This statement made me and my child feel very uncomfortable and should have never been said. The braider eventually stated she would braid my child’s hair (as if she had a choice). I then provided the braider with the hair I purchased and mentioned the discount that was communicated to me, the braider stated that I would not receive a discount because the hair is not equivalent to $20. I complied, but what bothered me is that the braider thought she was going to use the hair I supplied, and not give me a discount. I informed the braider that I would not be using the hair that I purchased and would be using the salon supplied hair since I would not be receiving a discount.

Since I have been to this salon several times, each time you pay, you receive a coupon at the bottom of your receipt which states “$5.00 off any style $85 and up.” Upon payment, I asked to receive this discount, the braider abruptly threw her hands in the air, started speaking in French, and told me I needed to speak with the manager b/c I was attempting to get too many discounts. I tried to reiterate several times that I hadn’t received any discount and the focal point the braider attempted to make is that the child was already receiving a discount. A child’s hairstyle is $20 off an adult’s price. I tried to communicate that this is not a discount because a child will not pay the same price as an adult because less time and effort is put into a child’s hairstyle. Overall, my child's hair looks nice, but the style is not worth the attitude/frustration I had to put up with. My $5 discount was not honored, the staff is extremely unprofessional, and the business is money hungry. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS SALON AGAIN, I have gotten better service in the hood!!!

Bignons African braiding

I went to this salon about two months ago. I haven't had an issue with loosing the braids themselves, but I did have an issue with the attitude of some of the braiders, which also left me unhappy with my end results. While my hair was pulled up or back it looked ok, but when it's down, there's a drastic difference between the braids around the outside and the braids in the middle that aren't so visible. I understand everyone can become exhausted but at least give me all of what I pay for. If they can't do it right without complaining they should go home.

The owner is professional, the girls were amazing. A few months ago, i went to have my hair done with an infant, those that were not busy rocked my infant and as i tried to tip all of them,..the young ladies, stated, we all have kids,..no, So my tip went to the main braider who happened to be the owner too. This was a last October and I am headed back. Absolutely hate Aabies,..they have one price listed and once the job is done, they offr nother price. 5 thumbs up to Bignons....love them

Loved it

I had a wonderful experience here. I came here after a bad experience at aabies, the ladies here are so nice and I had a team of 2 braider (mother and daughter) working on my hair to get me in and out quickly. The price was more than I would have liked to had paid but what can you expect with microbraid. However on the upside they also have coupons and discounts on select days.
