Only24hrvet.

When a family member died I got one of the dogs and there were unknow medical issues at the time and had to take dog there for care. I got a vet 'student'. My dog was having MASSIVE seizures in the waiting room, and I was told the dog was having a bad dream and charged out the A$$ for that bs excuse. Was able to take my dog to my vet the next morning and got real treatment for my dog who is happy and healthy and living his life at 13 years old. No thanks to this horrible place.

Fair to partly cloudy

As residents of Castle Rock for some time, we've always taken our critters to VCA Douglas County. Mostly I felt like our treatment was good, but once we hit upon Stacy McVicker, we knew we Loved her! She really treated our animals (esp. the cat) with love and devotion and I felt that she was always up front and honest with us in terms of what could/shoud be done within our means. Sadly, we had a very poor experience with the emergency services, and shortly after that we decided VCA's prices were awfully steep and we should seek treatment for our menagerie elsewhere. We had some issues with the office manager as well, so although we loved Stacy, we decided we needed to move on. We are sad to say goodbye to a wonderful vet, but the business side of things got out of control

Uncomfortable situation...

I have been a client of VCA Douglas County for several years now and have been fairly satisfied with the care I have recieved. The staff are pretty friendly and helpful, although the prices are a bit steep. I love that I can also board my loveable Shihtzu here and get her groomed as well, the gals downstairs have always been a treat. However, when I was paying for my vaccinations during my last visit, I witnessed the hospital manager repremand an employee in front of staff and a few other clients. It was incredibly unprofessional and really uncomfortable for those of us in the area.

Excellent Service and Compassion

I took my dog here for an emergency in the middle of the night. The vet was very compassionate and called in a surgeon to do the emergency operation (in the middle of the night). Because of them my dog is happy and fine today. I take all of my pets there now and every doctor I've seen has been really good and really compassionate. You get what you pay for. I found out later that they actually charge less for emergency than most places. I won't go anywhere else.

diabetic cat

The vets at VCA Douglas County are the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met regarding my animals. Several years ago, we returned from a trip to find our cat near death. We rushed him to VCA and after a series of tests, a week, and several thousand dollars, it was determined that he was diabetic and that he would have to be on insulin. Not only did VCA let us set up a payment plan (his treatments to date have cost nearly $4,000...who has that knd of $ lying around for a pet emergency), they continued to call and check on him (and STILL do whenever he has been there!), they worked with us over the course of several weeks to get his insulin levels correct, they performed many services at a reduced cost and every single vet involved took an active interest in my cat (which seems to be a unique case.) Dr. Stacy McVicker knows Mojo's case inside and out, and never fails to let us know exactly what is going on when he goes in. We have had a few scares with him, and have been o

Horrible

Went to this office on a Saturday emergency. Was told my 20 year old cat would never walk again and that his leg would need to be amputated ($900) or operated on (at least $2000). I trusted my gut that these seemed like potentially premature and overly invasive measures for a cat of this age, and took the kitty home for some recooperation and observation. Today, he's just fine. He walks, he runs, he hunts, he lives it up. What's more, the office promised me a 12 month interest free charge to my credit card, but really put it in for three months. When I called the office to amend this oversight, I got the run-around. When I mentioned that my cat is doing just fine without that expensive surgery, and that I would not recommend this establishment to anyone, the office manager called me a liar and hung up on me. Yuck! Worst customer service I've encountered in a long time. I will not return and I recommend you avoid this place like the plague. They are also very expensive compared to other

Dr. Roberts

Dr Roberts had been our vet since 1983, he is an amazing and dedicated. His retirement is a big loss for the practice.

AWFUL, GREEDY, Will Kill your ANIMAL!! STAY AWAY!!

This group, since the merger is short of a rip off! (use to be good when independently owned) They will NICKLE AND DIME YOU! OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE! They will treat your beloved family member like a number! The will let your animal die and still charge you an exuberant amount in fees! And then will take you to court if you do not pay them, even after they "KILLED" your pet! Comparable to Denver General walk in clinic! Do NOT GO HERE!! There are many other good Vets in Town!! DO NOT go to Cherished Companions either...at least not if you are looking for a compassionate and understanding staff! Very Rude, inflexible!
