Overall
I went to see "Doctor" Monserr...

I went to see "Doctor" Monserrate for a shoulder injury i sustained while snow skiing up north. After much of my own research, i had a good idea of what my injury was, and what the likely prognosis was. I put the word "doctor" in quotes because now that i have seen one of the best doctors in the country for my injury, i realize how horrible of an orthopaedic he actually is. His ego was huge, while his knowledge of the anatomy of a shoulder is very very limited. I have a very obvious deformity in my shouder; my clavicle is clearly sticking up and out of place. After telling me that the bump wasn't major and that there didnt seem to be anything major really wrong, in a very demeaning way, He told me that he had had an injury to his shoulder as well. After a BRIEF viewing of my MRI and XRays i brought with me....and i mean BRIEF, he looked at me and in a very confident voice said, " I know you havent had the best luck with ortho's in the past, and i can make you good as new with a shot of Cortisone." Though i was very reluctant to agree to another shot of Corticosteroid (now 5 total), I agreed because he seemed knowledgeable at the moment. With being in excruciating pain on a daily basis for over 4 years i was willing to try almost anything. He informed me that my biceps are connected to my shoulder by a short tendon and a long tendon and the short one was inflamed, and that this shot would make me good as new. And the pops and clicks that my shoulder makes with nearly every move i make were nothing and was something that i would just have to deal with. So he gave me the shot, and told me that i would be feeling 100% better within 2 weeks... The treatment made no positive difference, actually made my shoulder hurt worse. Nearly my entire upper arm became bruised for a week or so, but there was absolutely no relief whatsoever. Once the 2 weeks had elapsed i contacted his office and told him what i experienced and the amount of pain i was still in. To my surprise the woman that answered the phone at the office told me that she would talk to him and call me back, Later that day she called me back and informed me that "the doctor would see me again, but would NOT be prescribing anything in the way of pain medication", to which i responded, "I am not looking for medication, Im looking for a resolution and to be permanently out of pain."At that point i knew he had NO idea what he was talking about and obviously i never went back to pay this quack more money to stick more needles in. I wouldnt let this guy pull a hangnail out, nevermind anesthetizing me and cutting me open. If you have a serious injury, and want a knowledgeable orthopaedic that has your best interest in mind......save yourself the time, aggravation, and belittling.....do not go to this quack.
