Union Market

They're great in a pinch but beware the seafood. I've been buying fish there for about a year and a half and have been burned three times. If Union Market wants to continue carrying and being known for high-end quality gourmet products, they need to suck it up, take a loss and toss the past-its-prime fish.

Like having a tiny little Whole Foods in your own neighborhood. Very well laid out, good selection (everything from Tropicana to $12 jam to cheeses to a great butcher), great staff, decent organic produce, and as expensive as a Manhattan Gristede's. I'll pay the prices happily to have such a good market within walking distance, and it really is the only thing of its kind around here.
