Lisa Gfrereris Assistant Professor in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM). Shereceived herMD degreeat the Medical School of Vienna prior to completing a PhD in Genetics at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute.She graduated from theHarvard Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency Program, andcompleted theAdvancedPeripheral Nerve and Microsurgeryat the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).Clinically, herfocusis peripheral nerve surgeryincludingheadache surgery, chest reinnervation after transgender mastectomy, breast reinnervation after cancer mastectomy,thoracic outlet decompression, facial nerve reconstruction, aswell as advancednerve reconstruction (TMR, RPNI, nerve transfers, free tissue transfer, nerve decompression, tarsal tunnel release) forrestoration of motor and sensory function after iatrogenic and accidentalinjury in any body part. She hasbuilta multi- institutional research programfor headache surgery,breast/chest reinnervation,as well as functional nerve disorders and nerve pain.As an affiliate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) she hasfurther focused on innovation and device developmentto enhance peripheral nerve regeneration. Lastly, she is on the board of the Migraine Surgery Society and has served on the board of the American Society of Plastic Surgery. She is a member of the American Society of Peripheral Nerve.
