Ear Infections
Otoplasty can be performed on adults and children whose ears have finished developing (which is typically around age 5). Patients must be in good general health and not have any chronic ear infections or other medical conditions that may impair healing.

Alanna Foglietti Fostyk, DO, earned her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree with biology minor cum laude from the honors program at The Ohio State University and her medical degree from Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then underwent general surgery training and completed her plastic surgery residency at South Pointe Hospital Cleveland Clinic. She is a board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Fostyk received the Heritage College Recent Graduate Award, which is given to graduates within 15 years of their graduation who have made positive use of their medical education to serve their community or profession in a leadership role and who have assisted the college through exemplary service or support.

Dr. Fostyk is faculty of the Cleveland Clinic Depart of Plastic Surgery and participates in their residency training program. Additionally, she is clinical faculty at OUHCOM and teaches, lectures and gives skills labs to medical students. Dr. Fostyk is medical director at University Hospitals Bedford Wound Care Center.

He then went to Medical School at Ohio University, where he currently serves as a Clinical Professor in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine is nationally recognized as one of the top physician training programs in the country.

Brow Lift
There are several different approaches to brow lift. Drs. Foglietti and Foglietti Fostyk specialize in the endoscopic approach. Endoscopic brow lift uses a series of small, carefully planned-out incisions placed behind the hairline through which the surgeon inserts his or her surgical instruments, including an endoscope. An endoscope is a thin tube with a camera attached to the end of it. The camera helps the surgeon when making modifications to the brow. Endoscopic brow lift is less invasive than traditional “open” brow lift surgery, also known as coronal brow lift. Coronal brow lift involves the creation of a single large incision that runs from ear to ear across the top of the head within the hair-bearing skin. This is rarely indicated.
Eyelid Surgery
Upper and lower eyelid surgery are two separate (but frequently combined) procedures. Upper eyelid surgery focuses on “hooding,” a condition where excess skin and fat on the brow weighs down the upper eyelid, making it difficult to open fully.
