Established in 1934, Travis Association for the Blind, also known as the Austin Lighthouse, headquartered in Austin, Texas, is a service oriented nonprofit organization with the mission to assist people who are blind or vision impaired and help them attain the skills they need to become gainfully employed in the community. Programs and services for the blind and visually impaired at AL include Braille classes, beginning computer skills, beginning computer keyboarding and vision aids for the blind and visually impaired. AL s products include rigger s belts, cotton-web belts, disposable safety vests, leather key holders, DermataB skin care products, Skilcraft skin care products, Portionpac products, certificate award plaques and highway reflector covers. It also provides mobility canes, replacement cane tips, reflective tape for canes, Braille paper, loose-leaf binders, slate and stylus, talking watches, alarm clocks, thermometers and calculators, sheet magnifiers, hand magnifiers, lighted magnifiers, check guides, signature guides, Braille labelers, labeler tape, playing cards, dominos and large print crossword books.
