Katie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate. She earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Communications from Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas. She then earned a Masters degree in Behavioral Science from The University of Houston-Clear Lake.Katie has thirteen years of experience working with children, individuals and families in the mental health field. She has worked with children and teens in a residential treatment center, doing individual and group therapy with the residents there. She has worked in an advocacy center, doing individual, group, and family therapy with sexual abuse survivors. She has also worked with children in the foster care system and adoptive children and families. Katie has conducted training programs for prospective and current foster and adoptive parents.

Katie offers individual, family, and group therapy. Every person is unique and different, and so she customizes the therapeutic process to specifically meet that persons needs.Katies areas of focus include: attachment issues, behavioral problems in children, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, adjustment issues, adoption therapist, physical, sexual or emotional abuse, ADHD, parenting concerns and family conflict.Katie is currently working to become a Certified Theraplay therapist in Austin, TX. When working with children, Katie often utilizes Theraplay techniques. Katie has been trained in Trust-Based Relational Intervention, designed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross at the TCU Institute of Child Development. This model encourages healing for children in need by empowering them, connecting with them, and correcting their maladaptive behaviors effectively.
