Founded in 1990, Texas Civil Rights Project promotes racial, social and economic justice through education and litigation. It publishes a biannual newsletter that focuses on various human rights issues, such as hate crimes and the death penalty. The project defends civil liberties, including free speech and assembly, due process and equal protection under the United States and Texas constitutions. It handles various issues, such as voting rights, police and border patrol misconduct, sex discrimination, employment bias, disability and grand jury discrimination. Texas Civil Rights Project is a part of Oficina Legal Del Pueblo Unido, which has been operational for more than 25 years. Texas Civil Rights Project maintains a location in Austin, Texas.
