I run a 501(c)(3) dog rescue organization and also have dogs and cats of my own. I have traveled all over the country and online shopping for the very best health foods and supplements for my animals. When Long Leash On Life opened, I thanked my lucky stars that the owners chose Albuquerque for its location.

The staff truly bridges the disconnect between healthy foods and the knowledge to utilize different products to the best of their ability. More so than for the products they carry, I shop there because the staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. Norman has a degree in Nutrition from Columbia University, and I am constantly amazed by the wealth of information he not only absorbs but uses to educate the customers, in the most kind and caring manner. Ken is one of the most warm and genuine people I know; he knows my dogs by name and is always interested in how everything is progressing with my rescue.

On top of the friendliness, helpfulness, and knowledge of the staff, Norm and Ken are also very supportive of rescue. They recently held an adoption even and donation sale, where they matched, dollar-for-dollar, five thousand dollars of proceeds to donate entirely to a group of rescues who were most closely involved with the store.

I am very disappointed to read any negative reviews, because everyone I know who shops at Long Leash On Life has nothing but absolutely rave reviews about the store and the staff.

Horrible Customer Service - Extremely Arrogant and Rude

I agree with a previous poster - these people are so arrogant and rude I don't know how they have survived. I have been in Long Leash on Life probably 3 times since we got our puppy and 2 of those 3 times one of the owners (I believe his name is Ken) has been so rude to me that I will never step foot in their store again. I guess you need to be a regular customer and be on a first name basis with them in order for them to treat you with any respect. I went up Montgomery to the Pet Vet Market (11200 Montgomery Blvd NE) and found exactly what I was looking for. The employees there have always been so helpful and super friendly, they will have all of my business from now on. Good customer service goes a long way and poor customer service goes even further. I will never recommend Long Leash on Life to anyone as a matter of fact I will discourage anyone that I know from doing business with them.

Overall
Too Arrogant

Great products, but the owners tend to gossip and can be very arrogant. This is not just from me, but several people have made these remarks. Why would an owner gossip about a customer to another customer? Well, it got back to me and I no longer shop there. Also, it is very clustered around the check out counter, not pleasant when they are busy.
