Where to Go in Portland

Portland's inventory of parks and outdoor spaces is impressive, with some 37,000 acres of outdoor spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy. A full 5,000 of those acres are encompassed in Forest Park, an urban forest that includes some 70 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Or go for a run along the 1.5 mile stretch of the Eastbank Esplanade, a recreational riverfront causeway the runs along the Willamette River.

As easy as it is to find outdoor pursuits in Portland, there are many opportunities to enjoy indoor activities as well. If you love art, don't miss the Portland Art Museum's impressive collection of works, including Native American and Northwest Art.

This series of subterranean tunnels dates back to the late 1800s when men were forced or dropped into tunnels under the Old Town and Chinatown area of the city, and then sold as slaves to ships along the waterfront.
